Finally got my locker and compressor put in today, with the help of longstroke.I put the compressor under the bonnet but made a heat shield for my piece of mind.So after i dropped tim of i went to a mates place and we hit the local track up creek road(Limberts). My mate shane went first in his 80 series and i followed. The first bit of the hill is pretty slippery and shane was spinning and had a couple of goes to get up the first bit(he had worn tyres).
I had turned on the compressor and hit the rear locker switch and hit the first bit rather slow and got stuck the first go(explanation later)I had another go but a bit quicker and got up.Shane had stopped up past the second section,he went up the left hand side.I arrived at the second section and decided to go up the middle,i had a couple of goes and didnt make it.Shane had walked back down the hill to watch,so i had another go and he told me the back wheel isnt spinning.
Ive finally worked out i need to have both my front and rear switches on(even tho i dont have a front locker)So the whole time i didnt have my locker in.So i hit the other switch and it lit up,all i did next was just crawl up the next bit without spinning a wheel, and all i had on was a set of A/T bfg's on,i cant wait to try my 33's.
Cheers Mat.

Look like ARB switches, did you use the wire supplied with the lockers and pump? if so i would say you have some thing crossed. 1 switch = 1 locker

:banana:Well done! You'll find lockers make quite a difference - just don't overuse them ...

And the problem with over using lockers would be:eek: maybe if you were attempting to follow in a unlocked car:p

Glad it worked in the end:angel:
I would say maybe you have the rear locker plugs conected to the front locker switch;)
In our's if you don't have the rear locker in the front won't activate so this sounds like the same thing but just with different switches, try swaping the plugs:)
Will have to give it a propper test on the weekend:twisted:

Rather a foolish system huh? I'd love to be able turn my lockers on independantly of each other. The back end tends to kick out on tough hill climbs when a bit of bounce is involved. I noticed when my rear locker was shagged and i plugged the line the front locker was enough to pull me through everything.

Yep, but i think there is a way of getting around it, you can make them both independant i'm pretty shore;)
Just not quite shore how:angel:
i'd say it's a safety thing......

they are independent, but when plugging the wires into the switches you can get them a we bit crossed up ( looking at the switch from the front or the rear). if you didn't get the wiring diagram with the compressor, i can scan it if you wish

We used the wiring diagram, but i just think we might have put the front locker plugs into the rear locker switch (or vise-versa) could be wrong though....:)

If you use the ARB loom they are not independent, it is wired so the front locker will only engage if the rear locker is engaged. Just a fail safe to protect the driveline, it can be modified.

Yes i followed the wiring diagram, its easy to do and all numbered.I had to turn on the front locker switch to get it to work, ive tried unplugging it and swapping it around, but then it does it in reverse. So basically they have the same power hooked up to them,so i need to give them seperate power?

Hi Mat
Good to hear about the locker, hope you can sort the wiring issues out. Are you still running the standard axles in the rear?

Yes i am,my mate says if it aint broke dont fix it,but im not like him lol.I would rather not have them break in the first place. When i get a bit more cash ill buy some new ones.If im not trying so hard to get up things i figure they should last a while.

Yeh well I'm considering getting a locker as well, but yeah the axles might be an issue. It'd be interesting to know how long the standard ones to last with the locker in.

Mt front axles are standard and stll fine, the rear drive snapped though. Put the laminated ones in or at least order them cause you will snap somthing eventually.

i was referring to at the solenoids on the compressor. each block will have a black and or green or yellow. both the green and yellow come from the same switch ( rear) forget about the red yellow and blue white for now
i think the switch that has both the yellow and green, if i remember correctly you pull the yellow and run an extra red from the other switch that has red and a yellow.
