Hi Declan,

It seems very expensive to me.

I would have thought it was $10k overpriced, having said that it is low mileage and reasonably well specced, but not sure it really justifies that sort of price!

For that money i believe it is a 2006 model, at how many kms do these start having trouble with oil in the looms or is that just a couple of defenders have this problem and where should i look.
Thanks Declan

Oil in the harness will affect them all eventually, but it is a really minor issue and you can get a new harness from LR for about $160 and it takes about an hour to change

I thought the oil in loom issue was sorted on all post 2003 or 2004 models?

And leather seats? Sounds grand.

2006 Land Rover Defender 110 03MY

Valuation Prices
* Private Price Guide$28,100 - $31,000
* Trade In Price Guide$20,900 - $23,800
* Average Km45,000 - 75,000

Price Guide$47,995* (this is the showroom price in 2006)

The airconditioning is superb if you get hot knees. Otherwise, it makes your knees freeze and the rest of you is about 10 degrees behind. (i.e. it works, but there are better A/C systems in the world.....)

Can't be a 2006 if its 03MY.... or vice versa....

And I definitely wouldnt pay a 2006 price for a 2003 manufacture......

Actually the MY refers to the model version. The last TD5 version they released was the MY03. They did not change the model for 2004, 5 or 6. So a 2006 built MY03 is correct.

( For example I bought a My09 Defender on the 24th December 2008, the MY changes usually in July of the previous year or there abouts)

My personal experience with my MY03 model Defender that I bought in 2003, is that at around 70,000 k's the axle flanges on the rear axle had to be replaced to fix a clonk. (and again at 140,000!). Mine also had the oil in the wiring loom at about the same time. That was all done under warranty the first time. I seem to recall I had to also pay (wear and tear I think) for replacing the front discs too at around that time... But apart from that once I got over the initial teething problems it had little major issues until I hit around 140-160k's, then I had to replace the radiator, viscous fan, wiring loom again, AFM, and a few other bits and bobs. ~7k in various repais in a year. But really all in all not to bad really.

So, what you are saying is that you actually have an 07MY Defender.

The model year is actually designated by the VIN.
03MY is ......3A.....
04MY 4A
etc
and we just received our first 10MY today. It's an AA.
