Here's a good one...

My folks old 96 Rodeo dual cab has the original Eurovox radio in it still and after disconnecting the battery on the weekend... well you can guess the rest and of course they can't find the radio code.

So I arrive and say that's easy I'll just take the VIN in to the Holden dealer and get the code... Yeah, they want $30 as GM hits them up for a fee if they go online and ask for a radio PIN:o I of course, standing there in my LR polar fleece, say: "If it was Land Rover it wouldn't cost me a cent". Which didn't go down well.

I'm hoping the units serial number might contain the PIN as its the same as the one's fitted to the 96 Disco's. Unless someone has a better idea of how to crack this?

PM the serial number (should be 10 digits - LR is) to me & I'll try to get the code tomorrow. I can't guarantee anything but it's worth a try.

If they haven't done this already, try looking for the 4 digit code written in texta inside the glovebox. There's a good chance that the car is ex-government, and it was common practice to do that knowing that handbooks would be lost and batteries would be disconnected.

You mean I can finally say something good about my Ford dealer. They looked up the code for the Double Falcon's radio in less than a minute no charge.

Same radio in my Commodore Ute (MY00). I couldn't find the code with all the books (and I've had the car from new!) after the original battery died last year. Went into the service dept here in Geelong with my books & they gave me the code just like that. I would try another dealer if possible, or hassle Holden head office.

Well the song is now the same from 4 GM dealers - the price varies to either $20 or $30. So obviously GM need the money and the dealer also gets a bit.

Well just another reason to stick to LR. We might all bag the dealers occasionally and so forth but at least they don't charge for everything.

Anyway can get a second hand radio which will do the trick for less than the price of the dealer's fee. Its a 13yo Rodeo they've had from new so probably needs a better radio by now.

Try the last 4 numbers of the VIN or engine.
