Glovebox setup for ipod/mp3

The first addition I'd like to tackle with the D3 is putting in a 3.5mm plug for the ipod and power as well.

From reading a few posts so far, it's pretty clear to me where to find the L/R/G wires in the passenger footwell. Haven't pulled the panel off yet so hoping that is standard.

In regards to power, I'd like to run a 12v standard socket into the glovebox.

I can then use a belkin car charger to power the Ipod and connect to the 3.5mm plug/socket.

Some questions about the power..
I've seen the tapa-circuit mentioned a few times on the disco3 forum

Is this or an equivalent availabe in Aus?

The guys on disco.uk run this often from fuse 65 which sounds like it is a permanent on 12v. I'm not keen to have a always on supply in the glovebox as it would be easy to leave a phone/ipod plugged into the socket out of site.

Any issues running this from say fuse 57 which is for the rear entertainment unit which I dont have?

Mine will be in the glovebox out of site. We only use the ipod on trips and it is controlled by the co-pilot.:mad:
I initially thought I'd put a jack in the centre console but I'm now trying to keep less devices floating around in the cabin.

you will find the same sort of thing as the Belkin on eBay from $4 from our friends in Hong Kong and China and shipment is usually $4 to $5 and takes a week. They have different styles from the power the iPod from the base connection or into the 3.5mm jacket at top which is play songs only all plug into power point of cig lighter in dash.

I put the ipod in the centre console for drinks along with the camera find it makes a handy storage pod in the Sonata

I tried putting a socket in the dash but found it repeatedly failed due to the jiggling around. I now have a fly lead coming out of the dash which works fine.

Like NM I couldn't live without the MP3 player, podcasts mostly but some music when I'm in the mood.

Half the job done..3.5mm lead wired in and working. That side panel is tricky to get off but once you can see how the internal clips work it makes sense. You need to pull the panel towards that door with some force.

Will save the power socket install for a rainy day.
