Well I'm confused!

I read an article on line saying what a great app ACR was for viewing RAW images (I've been using Irfanview to date), so I went looking. All I could find on the Adobe website was a plug-in for PSE (which I use). No instructions, nothing. I downloaded it and installed. I gather all that happened is the existing plug-in has been updated (I see the ACR V5.4 window open when I open a RAW from the editor).

So is there a stand-alone ACR app?

Cheers.

Yes that's it. It lets you manipulate the image on opening.

ACR discard the settings of the Nikon cameras so if you have a Nikon and would like to keep the nef settings from the camera use Capture NX2 instead of ACR ;)
