Can one buy them in OZ or will we need to get them from the UK?

I need two (LH/RH), too.

You can buy repro door tops here, I can't confirm who sells them, but I would expect most if not all of the regular series parts places would stock them-All4x4, FWD, Rovacraft etc. They are steel like the originals; you can get Aluminium ones from Canada IIRC-I have a set with rusted out mounting bolts but the rest of the door tops are perfect albeit useless:(
Cheers,
Mark

Hey I am Catholic.......Latin a 2nd language to me :D, yeah sometimes with this mob that can be true...but overall I have not had an unpleasant dealing with them.Nor with any of the other Landy Parts suppliers.

Hey I am Catholic.......Latin a 2nd language to me :D, yeah sometimes with this mob that can be true...but overall I have not had an unpleasant dealing with them.Nor with any of the other Landy Parts suppliers.Well ... You see it' like this ...

I had been dealing with them from the 1960's and had good service.

Then .... in about 2003 I needed to re-do the semifloating bearings on the rear of my 1951. Contacted then for bearings and axle collars, specified Japanese, German, US or English bearings - what came were un-branded presumably Chinese bearings. The collar was loose and wouldn't hold the halfshaft in place and had to be returned.

About 2004 I wanted to rebuild the gearbox, bought one of their kits, before confirming the sale. I asked I want Japanese, German or English bearings and I don't mind paying. The reply was that it's all O.K. we'll send the type of bearing you request, once again the bearings arrived in nice little plastic bags with only a number. In my experience SKF, Timken etc all brand their bearings with their name and country of manufacture, one has to assume the bearings are Chinese.

2006 - I purchased a bonnet and windscreen off them via Ebay, the items were all bronze green and I carefully studied the pictures before I bid. When picked up they were lime green the bonnet had a dent where the stromberg carby sat underneath (no dent on the bronze bonnet in the pic) and the windscreen frame had been broken and repared. They were banned from ebay after that.

Now ask Phoenix about his dealings with them for new parts and the arrival of 2nd hand items.

Must be something about the transition of the business from the founding generation to the 2nd generation of the family that now run the business.

I say again in English - buyer beware!

that axle is still at my place as a reminder of not to use them where I can. Ordered an axle to replace a worn one, and I got a 2nd hand one, not happy jan

I use Land Vehicle Spares at Silverdale and All FourX4 at Kotara (Newcastle)

I agree the staff at FWDs are friendly, but I have NEVER had a dealing with them without some error. If you want friendly service, I find All FourX4 impeccable to deal with. ;) As an added bonus, they also send you what you actually ordered!

As Diana said, caveat emptor. You can order door tops from FWD but there is a good chance they will send you headlights, and overcharge you for them...

I have perentie door tops on my IIA. Purchased 2nd hand from FWD Motors in BRISBANE. DON'T confuse these guys with the mob in melbourne. I have always had good dealings with FWD in brisbane. They gave me a 80% discount on a 1st gear set once after the previous gear failed 10000km and 6 months after I bought it from them.
