Saw these new defenders parked up in Perth the other day, obviously being thoroughly tested for the next model release

Of course Rover was building bicycles long before motor cars were being manufactured by anyone.

Production ceased in the 1920s, but there is no reason why they could not resume, although it would be interesting to know where these were actually made and by whom!

As an avid mountain bike rider/mechanic/fanatic, I feel I should point out to the unaware that these bikes are far from worthy of the Land Rover name. They are simple reasonable and usable mountain bikes for your average Joe. If they did not bear the Land Rover name they would retail for around $600 - $700 in Australia, so they are certainly not an enthusiast machine as I consider Land Rovers to be.

I don't know how much of a premium the Land Rover name bears, but judging on the prices that the also rather average Porsche, BMW, etc bikes retail for, I imagine it would be reasonably hefty.

Sorry. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade. I just want to make sure Land Rover enthusiasts aren't taken for a ride because of their emotional attachment to the brand.
