Diesel particulate

Hi All,
Just a quick question, I havent washed the defer since winter started, an have noticed alot of diesel particulate sticking to the paint work around the exhaust, is this normal? I have a playdoe with DP Chip and this has alot of deposits on the paint, but I can understand this due to the fact that under acceleration it resembles puffing billy (plumes of over diesel smoke). The defender though hardly smokes.

Please put my mind at rest(oh yeah its a 300tdi).

If you spend a lot of time driving around trucks then it may not even be from your vehicle.

Defenders have a big recirculation zone at the back and small particles like soot will attach to the back. No guarantee it is from your car (though it is likely).

Best way to see how much it is smoking is to get someone else to drive it up the street under hard acceleration while you watch.

But the bottom line, if your EGTs are OK I wouldn't worry. (if you don't have an EGT guage - fit one ASAP).

exhaust gas something ??? what is that then ??
I think my 130 300 is over fuelling so was thinking of a injector pump and injector overhaul at some shady place around perth ...thing is i understand that Aussie owners tended to crank up the fuel as 300 were not gutsy enough . it isn't to clever over fuelling apparently
