Hi All, my 07 car has twice just recently lost all power and dropped out of gear and coasted to to a stop. Turned the car off and restarted after about 1-2 mins all ok. Assortment of warning lights came up on the dash and also engine fault trans fault and also park brake fault. It is an TDv6 and only travelled about 18000 k's. Has any one else had the same joyfull experiance?????:(:(:(:(

I'll have a stab at this one:eek:

Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

I've had mine at the dealers recently after starting the car and getting pretty much all the lights you described. From memory, handbrake light, engine light, suspension light and a few messages such as limited gears etc.
Stopped and restarted the car, all lights cleared except for an amber engine light.

Problem was due to water getting into the PCM which is now being replaced under second hand used car warranty. Took the dealer a couple of hours to diagnose.

Hope that helps, wonder if this is a reasonbly common problem?

There is a recall for th high pressure pump on the MY07 plus, but I don't think those are the symptoms.

Take it to the dealer and get them to diagnose, could be anything that causes a problem on the Can bus. Mine had a pierced loom from when it was built and experienced similar symptoms.

That's no good, Ash!

Could be the battery has an intermittent earth.

There have been some who've had the water into the 4WD control module, but that tends to only happen if you've been through water or put a pressure spray into the engine bay.

What have you been up to lately?

Had a bloke at work who had a similar problem and the dealer diagnosed it as metal fragments in the fuel system. Some part of the fuel pump had **** itself and end result was the whole fuel system needed to to be flushed. All bad.:(

This is the recall for the HP fuel pump:

http://www.disco4.com/gallery/albums/userpics/11257/High%20pressure%20pump%20recall.pdf

If it fails you metal fragments everywhere and all the system needs replacing not just a flush. That is what other dealers have done.

Leaving fragments can lead to problems down the track.
Get your mate to ask the dealer what was done and if the pump was not replaced.

Thanks for the link, mine's waiting on the parts to come in to do the recall.

A bit off topic but related to Caver's recall post. I put my car in for new General Grabbers with Alto Artarmon this morning. They checked the computer and did the vacuumn booster recall. This afternoon they checked again and started the fuel pump fix. Surprised they both did not come up in the morning, but full points to Alto for checking and getting stuck in to fix. I don't normally get my car serviced there, it was just in for tyres - their price was too good.
Cheers
Mike

Sent the D3 to southern Landrover 2 recalls needed, they replaced the fuel pump which was the problem. Fuel pressure was dropping then it would cut the power to the enginea and they replace vacum line or some thing to do with the vacum side in the braking system.
All good now just did a 750k test drive didn't miss a beat.
