Especially when you take into account the free giant pumpkin attached to the roo bar!

Good luck!!!!!!
Mine looked to be in better condition than that, but I was told to take it away and make it look presentable. Never mind that the motor ran a treat, and it had new brakes all round. I wanted the rough and ready original look that your vehicle has, but I was forced to re-paint it.

So you are assuming that LRO53's vehicle doesn't run well and has no brakes!!!

The parts that you can see he has replaced in these fantastic pics show new seats, bumper, tyres, exhaust system. I bet he has a done heap more than just that too.

Good one LRO53 great to see the vehicle coming on and she certainly sits so well, you must have changed the springs too

Crikey! This forum uses VBulletin which is probably the easiest to use (and I say that being an Admin of a forum which uses phpBB)!

??

I can't see that he has made such an assumption. I read his post as that the registration authorities wanted him to make his presentable before they'd register it.

He has made no mention of the mechanical condition of LRO53's car.

That is a great looking Landy you have there. Leaving the body virtually 'as is' was a great move & no-one will knock you back for that at all providing there's no sharp protrusions.
The only thing they might query is what colour it is - silver or green :p.

Congratulations on a top job :).

BTW, are you in Sydney? If so, can we see this fine specimen at the Expo next month?

Not true, that was not the intention of my posting.

My vehicle also had new seats and exhaust. One of the reasons that it was refused registration was the condition of the paintwork. This really annoyed me, considering there is a utility with the number plate resembling "RUSTEE 1" which is entered in the Bay To Birdwood Run every two years, which lives up to it's reputation. I wish that I would have been able to register my '49 with the body work looking like "as found condition", but with renewed mechanical and safety components.

Club registration dosent require a condition of the paint work.....as long as it mechanically sound and original...

Unless its been defected in the past, which would require inspection.

Even full rego in NSW doesn't require good paint. As long as it's not a hazard to pedestrians, you can have bare metal.

WayneI think that they could knock it back on surface rust of the steel components even if it isn't invasive rust.

Hi there Diana........It would have to be excessive rust, eg holes in firewall etc.........

All the best

This was not the "originality" inspection for historic conditional registration. This was a roadworthy inspection centre. I am one of our club's inspectors for the conditional registration scheme.

WayneIn our opinion yes, but by the letter of the law to an anal-retentive RTA Inspector maybe not. They have been known to reject unrepaired cracks in metal skins because of the "potential" to open up and be dangerous to pedestrians* whether or not they have actually opened up or not. :(

Diana

* how many pedestrians have any of us actually hit in our combined driving careers and of those pedestrians so hit, how many of them struck the part of the vehicle that had the crack with the potential danger?????
