I was thinking of getting A Garmin Nuvi and was speaking to a mate who has just purchased one and he said the voice and road position don't match, the voice is about 200meters late.Does anyone know why it is doing this.

sounds straneg, we have a nuvi and it's usually pretty spot on!

edit: a thought, is it set to use for walking or cycling instead of use in a car? the three options change a few settings. big speed and distance differences for the voice prompts.

I just used one to drive back from Sydney to Adelaide. It was spot on the whole way (apart from it taking me on a few odd detours to get the shortest distance).

You can do online software updates, so would be worth plugging it in to your USB port and using the Garmin site to do the update. It is really easy. It updates new roads and changed conditions and even red-light cameras.

We also have a Nuvi 760 and have found it to be pretty accurate it did say my sister inlaws house was on the other side of the street but that is the only fault so far.

I have an older nuvi that seems to like to screw with us, trying to make us drive the wrong way down 1 way streets, telling us to take streets that dont seem to be there and never have, taking very strange ways to get to places, detouring us across the city adding time to our trip and it never seems to get street number locations anywhere even near close... perhaps i should run the software updates :)

I've got a Nuvi 760, and find if the streets are close together it has trouble keeping up, and as Wayne said the voice tends to lag behind your actual position, especially if it has to re-calculate the route. I also find it very slow to start up (firmware etc updated).

I think there are better units out there (probably even better Garmin units)

Will a Nuvii 250 run extra maps on an SD Card?

We have a nuvi and no problems with delayed directions. It does come up with some funny pronunciations for street names, but I gather they are all a bit like that.
