I wonder if this kit will stop early VCU's from failing?

I guess it depends on the ratio. I would hope it's the later ratio in which case it should help the VCU & rear diff.

Trouble is, by the time you have multiplied up in to dollars and arranged shipping and berarings etc, it probably less hastle to get a used 2nd hand newer IRD?

Wouldn't help anyways, the rear drive ratio remained the same - it was the front drive ratio that changed
