Can anyone suggest suitable fishing spots in SE Qld. I am keen to try out my newly learned fly fishing skills in some of the rivers, north of Brisbane but south of Rocky. Advice on type of fish and flies to use would be of help. I don't have a boat so it would have to be land based. thanks

Awoonga dam at Calliope, Monduran Dam at Gin Gin, both good spots for Barra , you can walk the banks and flick a lure or spinnerbait in and around the snags ........... There are some awesome Bass in Lenthalls Dam that will take a fly or surface lure like a popper or soft plastic frog, but the road in was pretty crook last time i was there.

Most estuaries is SE Queensland have trevally and other pelagics that will take a fly
