Help needed, I've had our Defender 130 for 5 mths now,when truck is first run I have a grabbing feeling in reverse but it disappears once the truck has been run for a while.
Any ideas would be appreciated

sounds like clutch shudder ,probably need fly wheel skim,pressure plate,clutch plate

Thanks Mudzilla, A new clutch was fitted 3 mths but not sure whether the fly wheel was machined.

What oil in the gearbox?
Maybe a change to something like Syntrans could smooth things up.

How old is it? td5 or tdi?

'96 tdi with 168000 kms

It could also be the handbrake binding.
My shoes have a bit of oil on them & they stick to the drum if left applied for a few days. I feel it when I reverse down the driveway & don't feel it when driving forwards. After a km or so, it's fine in reverse too.

and do the clutch fork whilst you are there

What oil in the gearbox?

no oil from the main oil seal i think is the issue contaminates the clutch

Scott, I think you might be onto something there. I recently had the hand brake adjusted. Never even entered my mind, everything was fine until then. much appreciated to those that helped
