Respray all done on the roof, and I've swapped out the fat MTRs for a set of cheese cutter Michelin XZLs on some Wolf rims.

Looks a bit more traditional now :)

Will take it out next weekend up to Coomandook for some sand driving, so I'll see what I think of the XZLs compared to the Goodyear MTRs in the sand. At least it will be a quieter trip up there.

Nice one SB, Yes I like the Wolf rims too and those XZL's are tough tyres - do you run tubes in them?
That white roof looks terrific.

I'd never have a Defender without a white roof! :p Looks Great! :)

They are the Tubeless Wolf rims (you can also get tubed if you want - but I wanted to run tubeless).

Looks great - agree, Defenders should always have a white roof!
XLS in sand no problem, just let out enough air.
Enjoy!

Nice , "Rustic" have a white roof as well, I would like to have a tropical roof like in my old 109 Stage 1 :)

They are mud tyres so not great in the wet. I used to run BFG AT's for "road tyres" and they were better than the XZL's.

Lardy - I rang my local (Adelaide) tyre supplier yesterday to enquire about 5 new XZLs and he told me that Michelin don't bring them into Australia any more!! I can hardly believe that.

He wanted to sell me a set of Kuhmos.....

Might have to call Michelin in Sydney or wherever head office is.

And in the wet, on bitumen, they are OK but not fantastic. You have to knock off a few Km/h around the corners, and allow a bit extra for braking.

Yes, call the Michelin HO - would be strange if they don't export them to Australia anymore. The problem with XZL is however, that you might have to wait a while to get them. For me it was nearly 3 months earlier this year.

Hi there

For those interested theres a complette set of tyres and rims (removed from a 130 ''Brand new" as they fitted alloys prior to sale) at Pt Lincoln Land Rover.

PS - I have no loyality with them - just informing others whom might be interested.

Spudboy - are you doing the Club trip to Wilmington with the Land Rover Club in September?

Thanks for the heads up Wayne.

Rang them. They want $1500 for the tyres and rims. I offered them a grand, but they said no! $1500 flat.

Not planning on going to Wilmington at this stage, but I'd be gathering that it might be your property they're going to.

$1500 is probably good value for unused 2nd hand tyres and rims. New the rims would cost $1000, and the tyres new would cost $1700.
