Had a bit of a play with an old M42 - 50mm f1.8 I've had laying around for a few years,

I can go either manual or aperture priority but (I think) that's about it.

100% crop, very shallow DoF

My daughter has my Spotmatic so I can't try the M42 50mm lens out on my Pentax DSLR. I have an adaptor I bought for my K-mount Pentax AF SLRs.

Nice!

I just bought a Tokina 135mm f2.8 M42 off fleabay for $13, for the fun of it. I'll post some pics when/if it turns up.

w00t. My lens arrived today. It's actually a Tamron "Twin-Tele" which means it's a 135mm f2.8 with a screw-on extension that makes it a 225mm f5.5. It also came with a 2x teleconverter and leather case. No bad for $13! :D

It might be a bit too sharp for portraits. I thought it was going to be softer somehow. I'll see how it goes doing macros.

good quailty pics....

wish i had the knowledge and that just to go out and buy cheap arse lenses. I hate to have things that are no use! it would really annoy me to buy something and find it not work with what I had even if it was only 13bux silly I know

You could put a filter on to soften the image but it would cost more than the camera :)
