gidday guys,

ive got a 2000 freelander and none of my rear brake lights work anymore. the globes are fine because they work when i have my fog lights on, and the fuse is also fine because apparantly it shares the same fuse as the reverse lights and they work too.
was wondering if anyone knew how to fix or what the issue could be.

any help would be great.

cheers

George,
The first thing I would check is the brake light switch which is usually under dash connected to brake pedal or a bracket near the pedal.

I don't know if this applies to freelander but on my Falcon I can tell when the brake light switch is faulty when I am using cruise control. When I touch the brake pedal the cruise should disengage. This happens by the cruise receiving a signal that the brakes have been applied. If the switch is faulty there is no signal and the cruise does not disengage.

Dave.

the globes are fine because they work when i have my fog lights on, The brake lights don't use the same lights as the rear fog lights on your Freelander.
