hello, after doing a search on this site and not really getting a direct answer, i am still wondering what oil to put in my landrover.

it is a 1965 series 2a.

i would like to know what oil to put in the various components. i know there is no black and white answer for this but if i were to head to my local repco store, what should i be looking for?

thankyou in advance, marcello

Original specifications are:-

Engine, aircleaner and governor - SAE20W , diesel rated oil for diesels.
This viscosity is for temperatures up to 32C, so for Australia, you can go a grade heavier, and in summer, particularly with the engine a bit worn even two grades.
Multigrade oils were approved. Any oil you can buy will be superior to the original specified oils! But avoid very light oils.

Gearbox, Transfer case, differentials, swivel pin housings, steering box, steering relay, rear PTO, capstan winch - EP90

Any of the oil companies will have tabulations giving their recommended products for Series Landrovers - they may not go back to yours, but the requirements were the same until the end of Series 3 production in 1984, and they should list them.

Hope this helps,

John
