From Shepp and Pete! They were lost! Yes, really!
They had been at Poeppel's Corner. Their next planned move was to continue West on the French line - but instead of returning the few km south to the point (on the French line) where they went north to PC - they continued north!??
Eventually they would have got onto the Hay River track and probably into some trouble, fuel wise - Shepp didn't sound too upset - I could tell he now knew where they were after I gave him some directions - so they'll now make it to Dalhousie! :D
I told him to ring me back if they got lost again!

Sounds to me like their biggest misfortune is the fact that their lack of locational awareness is now public. Let them now be drenched in the forum's collective and derisive mirth...

Yeah - I thought Shepp was joking when he said they were lost! I mean - how can you get lost out there??? If you've ever been out there - you'll know what I mean! :D
I guess they don't have a GPS - sounds like they don't even have a map!
I'm pretty glad they have my sat phone, as you say bolts! :D Wish I was out there, but - God, that was great country. While we all have a laugh - they are sitting around a fire of Gidgee coal.
If anyone wants to give it to 'em - PM me for my sat phone number - :D :D :p

Tell you what, it's a classic and sure they're going to cop it on their return - but having said that, i'd rather be lost out there with them than know exactly where i am at work.... :(
I'm sure they're having a great time out there

No further calls, Hendrik - weeds and I sent them a few text messages - to the effect that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. :D
They guess they must be enjoying it now. :)

Cant find an embarrassed smilie!

We are now back!

No dramas at all with the cars, both being faultless, until mine this morning when I backed into a really big tree in a campsite and wrecked my back door..... how unlucky is that!

anyway trip report coming soon, with lots of pics

Yes we are alive. Good to know we can entertain you all from the desert. Actually we wanted an excuse to use the Sat Phone. Works a treat - Thanks Dan. I'll leave the trip report to Pete and provide some more pics. Cheers Shepp.
