Is it a lot harder to get a quality paint finish in auto 2 pack using a HVLP (high volume low pressure) guns compared to higher pressure (but more paint/overspray) gravity and suction guns???
With the price and hardness of 2 pack paint I don't fancy rubbing back and chewing up paint on multiple coats learning to use a HVLP gun if it is a lot harder.
Thanks

hey there there you certanly can paint a car with a hvlp i speacilise in this sort of thing.
the thing to rember is you must use the correct tip size and get the right air mix.
allso be sure the gun and pot are spotlessly clean and the diaphram in the return hose at the top of the gun is clean and free. :)

Im going to attempt to paint my county some time soon, when you say get the correct tip size and air mix can you be more specific, I know very little about spray painting but im willing to give it a go, so far i have only painted a few small things, they came up ok but i would like a nice finish when i do my county.

Make sure you've got the right breathing aparatus - 2 pack is deadly on your lungs :(

HVLP guns are what the pros use. But they are tricky by all accounts. I have only used Conventional guns.
Bru21 on Outer Limits 4x4 Board :: Index (http://www.outerlimits4x4.com) has posted some excellent tips and how-to's on painting cars in 2-pac.
As spudboy said, lots of isocyanates (neurotoxins) in 2-pac hardeners, so make sure you wear very good breathing apparatus.

I am told pros still prefer the new eco type guns which are mid way between traditional high pressure and low pressure HVLP. That says maybe even if you master HVLP the finish may not be as good????
For small jobs with 2 pack I use a full mask with $30 AXP3 filter that you throw filter away after 1 session/use. Don't do that and you will be coughing up blood. For larger jobs mask with supply air in a filtere vented paint booth is necessary.
