Hey all,

well genius that I am, while taking out my fuel tank earlier, I managed to snap the plastic nipple on the fuel gauge sender which connects the fuel line to the pickup in the tank. Upon inspecting the tank, I noticed that it has a second pickup on the top of the tank which is used as the fuel return, and a return inlet to the tank which is not being used. Is there any problem in me blanking off the fuel sender pickup, and using the "return" at the top of the tank as a pickup, temporarily?? And for the permanent fix, where can I get a new sender unit and how much should it cost? Or does anyone out there have a sender lying around that they'd be willing to pass along to me??? :)

i did ths same thing and still didnt get the tank out. what i did was, as there is an o ring on the metal tube on in the inside of the sender, i removerd the tube, easy twist and pull then removed the o ring and drilled through the plastic sender unit so that the tube would go right through, replaced the o ring, pushed the tube through so that there was enough to connect the hose and replaced the sender. all seems to be working ok now. you may have to fiddle with the shape of the tube to get it all back in. lots of luck. thanks Dave B.
