Well it's tax time and SWMBO has freed up the funds for a CDL install. Booked in for next week!

Talk about capital outlay!! It's going to double the value of the car!

Don't know what you've been quoted mate but I had mine done incl all the cdl guts and original LR linkages for about $1600.

THE BEST MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT ON THE CAR:D:D:D

You'll enjoy it off road twice as much and your tyres and brakes will thank you.

Let me know if you find somewhere decent to play,,,,

I got quotes from 2 places. "Around $2100" for internals, linkages, and upgraded housing (steel output shaft interface - no oil leaks) from a place in Brissie.

and "No more than $2600" for the same kit from a mob here in Toowoomba.

Logistically it is easier to go with the latter as it is local.

I'm looking forward to catching up Pedro, I want to go and explore the Murphy's Creek tracks after it's done. Will let you know.

Sounds good Hendrik. I will check the calendar. I know my 4yo is keen for an "adventure".

Hi Waz...when I was thinking about the CDL for my 02 I was quoted on it. Not many places have done it. I have e-mailed Techno British but havent heard back. I think your quote was from MR because that was the quote they gave me exactly and included fixing the shaft leak.

Cheers

Bingo. The mob in Toowoomba are just getting all the bits from them. Both places said it was difficult to give an exact quote because they don't know what parts are in my transfer case until they pull it apart.

One of the big sellers for me was a friend who has a very well set up D2. It has front and rear air lockers. He has now put in the CDL and said that if he had his time over again, CDL with rear locker is better than F&R locker with no CDL

It's not the transfer case that needs the parts it is only the front output housing which is where the locking parts reside.

My 02 conversion was very straight forward - an output housing and factory linkage from an 03 (D2a) $400, fitting (included taking the transfer case out for ease of working) $600.

best mod ever made.

Fellas - yep output housing only required. I think even a Deefer will do but dont quote me.

As for lockers without CDL I cannot immagine how that would be any better than traction control with unlocked centre.

A D1 output housing will fit and has the right parts. Just missing a prox switch for the hi/lo throttle mapping but that can be fitted.

Waz, your friend either didn't do his homework on how a CDL is a prerequisite to diff locks, or was given the wrong advice..... No wonder he thinks it works better now! :)

Yes, experience, a better educator than school. ... but now he's set. His rig will take some stopping now.

Well, mine's in and good to go. My wife works on Saturday, so I might take the offspring for a little play.
