Here's a couple of pics of Big John, named for my Dad who passed away in January. There's a bit to do but he's basically solid and as we're looking at a keeper for life, I'm in no rush!

Nice find. Strangely, it looks very similar to my 110 - who woulda thunk it :p
Wish I had your snorkel though!

When I think of all those lost years before I had a Defender it makes me depressed and I need to think of the golden years since 2004.
I surprise myself sometimes at how little I hanker for a brand new one. I start to dream and then realise ,hang on, the one I have is all I need and is set up just how I want.
$15000 is not much.
Buy one.

I love them since I got my 109 Stage 1 years back, nor my Tdi300 is my pride and joy vehicle

Big John is lovely - well done. :) I too, have my Defender - not named after, but because it reminds me of my (other!) Grandad who used to take me out in his Series 1. I know Grandad would be proud to know I now drive a Defender.
You have joined a wonderful fraternity - remember to wave. :D

nice ride Marky
defenders like a good wife-put enough effort into the relationship and they'll put a smile on your face every time, gotta wonder about people who have to upgrade every couple of years -maybe they weren't happy to start with:D

Thanks guys!
Getting the warm & fuzzies through this WWW thing, as well as driving him!
Picked him up for $4900 'as is' from a Melbourne car yard, c/w full-length steel rack, two spare wheels and a factory LR cargo barrier.
Have spent the same again on a new(ish) head, tyres, timing belt and various other bits (viscous, rear window etc.); the only other main thing will be a gearbox refurb in a year or so as it's a bit whiney and sticky now and again.
Big bonus was when I drove down to the RW garage to check on Big John's progress, some geezer booted the tyres of my disco and offered me five grand 'as is'! Fate, or what?

yes i took a puma for a around the block drive and have also driven a TD5 around town. although nice the isuzu was actually easier to drive in town. but i couldn't get past the thought that all that extra cash for basically what i have already

I feel the same but my old girl needs some TLC and I would like another new one. Pat

ok true, but if i was to take my 85 county and spend the difference from not getting a puma, say 40K i would end up with a county that is nicer to drive, more capable, quieter, faster and better looking than any puma
