Hi all,
I need some help deciding on some plates for my county, my original plates are completely buggered so I've decided while I am getting new ones I may as well go custom ones - bloody expensive though, for standard plates with custom lettering its 110-200 to order them then another 90 per year, for the full custom plates its 200 to order and 440 per year! I don't get why they are so expensive its not like it costs them any more per year for us to have them - NSW RTA are a bunch of thieves.... but anyway, here are my choices
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/08/771.jpg
I'm leaning towards just LRC-57L black plates with silver lettering seeing as my truck will probobly be painted silver, otherwise maybe the green and white plates look good too because thats the other possible color... :)

There is no fee for custom plats in NT i dont think , have a mate up there who has some, and thats what he reckons, although his information is questionable..
NSW is a rip off $400 a year for black on yellow, are you sure QLD is more??

I have LANDYANDY in polycarbonate plates. They were around $390 when my mrs and boy got them, now would cost $495.
BUT,we only have a 1 off charge in WA for them, also you own the plates and are able to sell them for what ever you want.

Why bother? It's only a vehicle, you can't go to bed with it.
Beats me why some owners would pay extra for something others laugh at and I'm thinking of the more ridiculous examples in WA like "GDAYM8" a fat git had on his Yank tank in Northbridge, or silly pet names for themselves or their car.
Or they repeat what the manufacturer has already put on the thing!!!
Or they put their family names on the things, how daft can you be?
It's got me beat how people can waste so much money on feeding their own egos.:o

Alan we all make decisions everyday, the type of car we drive, the clothes we wear, life is about what we like and if spending a couple hundred dollars a year makes you feel good, why not!!.

It's not always about ego:
What about my plates?
You'd be surprised at what I can say about this place when people ask what it means. I tell them about a community of interested people who drive land rovers and they are genuinely interested because it is not about ego. For the time being I can afford to do it and I feel that the cause is worthy.

Hardly ego - no-one notices except other Land Rover nerds like me.
I like your choice, LRC-57L in silver.
That yearly fee was a con, mine was a one off.

I see nothing wrong with customising your car, i may be putting something the manufacturer has put on it already but im also puting my own bit from the hard work ive put in to it on as well....

LOL, jeez, Alan, what else is it for? And that's coming from somebody way too tight to buy some vanity plates. But my ego is as hungry as the next bloke's and I know there is a set of plates in the Murray Shire south of Perth with "MY 110" on an EA Falcon, and I know where they live and as soon as my numbers come up I'm knocking on their door and I'm buying the whole ruddy car if that's what it takes.
