Any good off road tracks close to Sydney ?

I only got my Freelander 2 SE TDI 4 yesterday. It is my first 4wd and I would like to take it off road. Are there any novice tracks close to Sydney. Also, are there any beaches that you can drive on ?

I've heard there are plenty of good ones at marrickville car park. We did a night run there last year.

I think there is beach driving at Boat Harbour near Kurnell but it's not much from what I hear. Make a day trip to Stockton Beach instead & you'll have a ball. If it's your first time though, go with someone with experience or enter from Anna Bay & stick to the beach.

Newnes SF is great for beginners. There's plenty of different grade tracks to tackle & is always a lot of fun.
There's the Watagans too but you can't beat Newnes for variety IMO.
