Ok, this is definitely not my week.

Burnt out the Defenders Headlight switch - known problem and can fix.

Given the Defender was U/S I thought I would take Missus Sleepy's V8 Disco 1 to work. Mmmm running really well too after recent tune up:twisted:

In almost the same spot the Sidelights/Dashboard lights stopped. Checked a number of fuses and no luck.

Have I busted the Headlight switch on the Disco as well?:mad::(

Paul, the dash lights are on one of the side lamp circuit fuses, the D1 has a fuse for the left side and a fuse for the right. I THINK it is the RH side??

Thanks JC,

I tried them both and the fuses looked OK. Popped the spare in and still no good.

There is a chance that the fuse AND spare fuse are both pffft because the spares came with the vehicle. (You know, pop the blown fuse in the spare slot trick;))

I'll stick the multimeter on the fuses tomorrow but I fear it's not a fuse. :(

Could very well be the headlamp switch, not very common at all. If it is, I have heaps of spares if you need one:)

Thanks JC, I'll have a go in the daylight tomorrow. I am hoping it is just a fuse that I have missed. I'll PM you if I need a switch.

Just to conclude - it was the main fuse under the bonnet. Phew - thought I had cooked another switch.

Question I ask myself is why did it blow:confused:

Paul, You may find that the glovebox light is also on the same cct, and the holder has broken and allowed the terminals to short out against the body temporarily.

I had this problem with a 97 Disco I owned, and after months of cursing, found the answer on a US Disco message board.
