So, as the title suggests, I need to purchase myself a new vacuum advance unit for the D1 V8, even though mine is less then 18 months old. The last one I bought was from Rovacraft and cost me around $85. I have just rung them to find out their current price and they told me that there are 2 options available (something about 2 pin or 3?). One option is $140 and the other is $185. Bit of a price rise since the last one! I checked another couple of websites for prices and came up with prices over $200. Does anyone know of anywhere I can get a better price on a VA unit, or is this how much they have gone up in the last little while?

Is it a Lucas distributor? If so, call Kevin Baker, KB Classic Parts in Witta Qld. Near Maleny. Kev is THE Lucas man.

Just ordered one from Advance Diaphragm Options, $85 express posted. Happy with that price. As mentioned in the original post, my current unit is less than 18 months old. After speaking to Mike at ADO he said that he is getting quite a bit of business from people with Vacuum advance units that are only 12-18 months old. After pulling them apart to rebuild he recons that the diaphragms used are made of inferior quality materials. Hopefully this one lasts a bit better than the last one. Thanks all for your information and advice.
