I am after a front driveshaft for a Series 1 88". I believe that these are the same for all 88" ie S1, S11 and S111? Can someone confirm this?

Ours has flogged out the slip joint, so I have had a new one on order for a number of months, as there were none available in the country, so I am told. As we wish to use the vehicle I am going to remove the old one and drive without it. This should create no problems I think, as I will unlock the hubs as well.

Drive shafts can be rebuilt, at least the slip joint can, but not the end flanges I'm told. Is this cost effective, as I'm thinking of doing this, which will give me a spare for both the S1 and the S11.

1. All 88" shafts are the same, or at least interchangeable - and the front ones are the same as the four cylinder 109.

2. Shafts can be rebuilt, but the costs of doing this vary, and you would have to talk to your local drive line specialist. Last time I looked at this it was for the 110, and the cost of a new genuine part was a lot less than rebuilding the old one.

Thanks John.

'tis what I thought.

One of our members recently had a driveshaft repaired and re-splined and came in half the cost of a new one so worth getting a couple quotes at least.

That is my intention Josh. ;)
