Hi,
I've just put 255/85 16's on my 90. Have just noticed that my rear drawers will not open properly as the rear door wont open wide enough with the taller tire on.
Anyone had a similar problem? Any easy fix?
Was looking at making a bracket to space the tyre to the passenger side of car to allow door to open properly.
Or maybe a Kaymar or similar swingaway?
Any feedback would be great.
Cheers

easiest solurion is to swap the 255's with my 285's ;)

they are near enough the same diam. anyway... thats the problem, the rear door needs to overextend with the drawers in to allow them to open anyway.. with a bigger tyre it is worse and no worky.

Mine swings out fine , I have a wheel carrier that bolts onto the rear door .

Graham cooper or rovercraft and most other landie specialist sell a rear mounted trye carrier in both black and galvo that opens and closes with your door that may be the solution.

TOTALLY recommend the Graeme Cooper Galv one (NO relation:)) and this is the one I will fit in preference to all others. They don't take all that long to fit, (I did one on Thursday, including dismantling and welding/ repairs to the broken rear door, and a new door latch, about 3 hours. This included painting and treating rusty bits inside the door, 1996 110) and is immensely strong. It also features a latch to hold the door open so it doesn't fall closed on you, and a easy grab handle. About $640 IIRC including freight to Tassie. Some may think this is expensive, but allowing the rear door to break completely and break the rear window glass when slamming the tailgate, it is a far better option.
I haven't tried a 33" 255/85 on it, but it should clear the RHR tail lamp as far as i can see.
