Hate to be a spelling Nazi but I think the promo ad for the Land Rover Expo on thr top of the AULRO Homepage has a typo.
Now I am sure there has been a sow or two displayed at this location but This going a bit far.
Sounds like a good turnout and not too far up the road from me - see ya all there!

I am happy to admit that in my haste to get off the post before going out I may have misspelt a word or two but I am not advertising to the great unwashed the fact that there is an important event being promoted.
By the way I have seen plenty of sows at Castle Hill Showground over the years and not all of them were in the pig pen:o

well the sow being displayed is in relation to the Sowground Stevo...ie I bet at Castle Hill Showground quite a few sows have likely been on display over the years at ag shows
the rest is purely typos
we all make them
I think the point is really more that in a promo ad you'd expect it to be right seeing as it's being splashed across the www...someone (http://www...someone) probably got paid well for the shockingly misspelt showground :D
I got the point at least ;) Don't get me wrong...I get the point...just think it's hilarious to point out errors then make a bucket load oneself. Absolutely we all make typo's......but if your going to have a crack at someone for typo's......best to make sure that the post is error free. Thats my point...which shouldn't be that hard to get ;),

Diana I do as well...I won't go into it now as that is a well flogged debate, nor is it in respect to an odd error here and there. If my children were to write like some of the threads I have read on forum's, they would get a wrap over the knuckles.
Also Chenz...apologies if I have offended...I was just having a stir....thought it was funny...but in a funny ha ha way. From one's mind to the internet...things can get lost in translation.
The stirs on me...well I will call them digs as we know there is zilch camaraderie there. If one of my mates popped on and poked fun, I would know where it was coming from. Would prefer if you lost the  and the :D etc and just say you got owned..or had a crack at me...much more honest. Funnily enough, it is also only a one way path, but such is life,

Actually, most of AULRO is pretty good. Lately I have been spending a bit of time on the Whirlpool forums - and have been somewhat taken aback by the number of posts where I have to spend some time trying to work out exactly what the poster was trying to say. (And they even have a thread entitled "English", currently on Pt.8 - they start a new thread part when a thread exceeds 50 pages.)
Some people seem not to realise that while they may know perfectly well what they were trying to say, the mis-spelled word, or grammatical lapse which they have glossed over makes their meaning far from obvious to others. And the only way you can avoid that sort of confusion is to at least try to write what you actually mean, using the same conventions as your readers. Most of the time, that means using standard English!

Can I just start with a couple of these :D:D:D so there is no misunderstanding?
The only thing worse than someone making a mistake when they criticise someone else's spelling or grammar is someone who makes a mistake when they are criticising someone who is criticising someone who made a mistake.

I bet you are wishing that you never said anything now hey Stevo :lol2: Absolutely....just a shame you can't have a joke. If it were around a campfire it would be no biggie. If you laughed at a mate because he tripped for example....then tripped yourself...you'd all have a big laugh. But alas...in my case, I then have to put up with it now in other threads from those that try to detract. Luckily I am not easily bullied ,

I think it happens to us all.......misinterpretation I mean. There has been a number of occasions when people have totally taken me the wrong way and its often because I forget that people don't always get my humour (especially if they have never met me) and they assume I'm not joking when 99% of the time I totally am:)

:D:D:D:D grinning from ear to ear...genuinely :D
As so often happens when someone is silly enough to paint a target on their forehead. :D
Edit number 1: I had better fix this before someone see it. There is a problem with non-agreement of subject and verb.
I should have said, "As so often happens when someone is silly enough to paint a target on his forehead.
Edit number 2: Now it is politically incorrect.
It should be,"As so often happens when someone is silly enough to paint a target on his or her forehead.

Funny, I thought that was why people used emoticons. I was making the comment in general....those that feel that the hat fits...will know. All I know is that I can make comments on various posts....not a peep....then as soon as I get into something that could be deemed a "hot topic" that I have given opinion on....then the same folk seem to take a shot at myself...rather than the issue itself. When it happens enough times you start to wonder. Then again...maybe I'm just paranoid.
Anyway...since I have popped in an out of here.....I have neglected my duties as a father. So far we have had one Steinlager knocked over and no doubt sipped on by my 16mth old ( I had thought it was here next to me...till the realisation that it was in the lounge...saw youngin sitting on lounge....beer looked intact....until I picked up and realised a full beer was now empty:eek:). That was the last post. Then whilst posting this...found him in the shower recess covered in soap :o and banging on the door as he had closed the doors on himself.
So catchya's on the flipside....knock yaself out VNX with the errors in that :p...I expect a full report by the morn,

Just in case you were wondering, the "Thanks" was not for offering to let me take a free swing at you. :D
It was for reminding us that there are more important things to worry about than the occasional, usually petty misunderstandings that happen here on the forum.

WHAT HAVE I STARTED!!!!
In future I will restrict myself to making mere comment on the facts of a particular post and not look at the spelling grammar, syntax (I think that is how you spell it), spacing, text and/or whether the verb has been conjugated (again I hope that was spelt correctly).
But in all seriousness, I hope that the jocular banter generated by this thread can be seen as an aside and we all get on with the important things in life like, having a laugh, sharing a joke and getting on with what we need to do to keep our beloved Land Rovers, on the track and ticking over.
I’m off to take the Fender for a trot to keep the battery charged and ready for our next adventure:burnrubber:

I teach English to international students who I find generally have better English than my own children and their friends, possibly because they are actually taught grammar and spelling at school, unlike our children, until recently when the light dawned on the educational supremos that it might be a good idea to revive it.
International students have to achieve IELTS 5.5-6.5 (depending on the course) to get into unis in Australia. I reckon my kids would all get about 3-4 if tested.
This would be why most unis require new students to do an essay writing course before starting their courses, since they usually come out of high school only semi-literate.
BTW iz fun t tri t tranzliterat Anglis inta ow thei mit soun funetikly, sinz Anglis isna funitik langige.:D
