Hi All,
My offsider Paul and a mate have struck disaster with the vehicle they have been touring in,(First holiday paul has had in 15years!:o) where the chassis requires urgent repairs. It is an Extra cab 4x4 2003 Courier that was carrying a traytop camper. After an impact with a washout the chassis is now severely bent behind the cab. The camper has been removed and left in NSW, and the vehicle is now in Melbourne. The problem is they can't get on the Spirit of Tasmania to get back down here for repairs until next week at an exorbitant cost:mad:, so are chasing someone in Melb to do a quick repair ASAP. It will be an insurance job, and time is of the essence as he only has a few weeks remaining of time off. What I am basically after is a recommendation from anyone here for a competent and honest panel shop that can do the job ASAP, so they can go back up to pick up the camper and at least have a reasonable holiday, what is left of it:(
PM any details etc and I'll forward the contact number/s etc to Paul tonight/ tomorrow.
Thanks heaps in anticipation of help:D

They are in Albury ATM, heading for Melb tomorrow. Not sure where exactly they are staying, I think he has a friend in Narrewarren (Sp?)to stay with.
Simon (Joker) has supplied me with a few names and ph numbers, so they are having a phone around tomorrow or Monday. Thanks Simon!:)
Bet they wish they had taken a 130CC:( these lightweight Jap 4bees aren't really up to it!

Thanks everyone for your help, the vehicle is going to be assessed tomorrow, took Simon (Joker) 's advice and tried one of his recommendations, Winfield Automotive in Port Melbourne. Apparently VERY helpful and went out of their way a fair bit on a Saturday, and even offered to deliver the vehicle to the boat to be returned to Tas if it ends up they come home and abandon the holiday!
So, waiting now to see if it is a write off now, or not:o the initial inspection has revealed some pretty serious problems, possibly even req a rechassis which will be probably too expensive:(
Again, thanks to all:)

Feel very sorry for your mate as I had a 2005 extra cab courier that died at 8,000ks after already having the gearbox and transfer case pulled out three times, three clutches, a faulty front hub (found out going down a steep hill:o), diff leaking oil through the axle welds, faulty fuel pumps and more. The seven months we had it, it was in the shop for 3 months plus it died on the Nullabour on our first holiday in three years after the birth of our second child. When Ford replaced the car with another new one I ditched it pretty quick. I hope no one has my old ones:eek:
Have a lot of emotions against Ford Couriers.
