I was on the Geoscience Australia site this evening looking for some 250k topo maps for an upcoming trip and found that the map index wasn't availaible in PDF:( despite the fact that the actual maps are.

So, I have created a .kml script which overlays the Geoscience Australia 250k map index on Google Earth.

The script (attached) will show the map index grid and map tile identifiers (ID and name) - making it easier to get the maps for the area of interest from the GA website.

Attached is Version2 of the GA 250k map index script posted last night.

The map name (QMAPNAME) in the popup balloon is now hyperlinked directly to the relevant download page for the selected map on the Geoscience Australia website. Clicking on the link will open your web browser on the correct download page without having to do a search on the GA website.

The popup balloon can be shown by either clicking on the 'i' in the centre of each tile or selecting the tile name from the feature list.

Take it out for a run in the park and enjoy. ;)

PM me if there are any bugs.

it worked the first time, then whatever map I selected, I kept getting the first map. I closed the GoogleEarth window and started again from your link, but now there's no grid and no GA website info at the bottom.:o

Try downloading the KML file to your local computer, start GoogleEarth then drag the file into GoogleEarth. This is preferable to loading the KML from here directly into GoogleEarth. What version of GoogleEarth are you running?

PM me if you have any problems.
