I checked the 2a's swivels yesterday, and decided that I need new bottom swivel bearings as well as the Railko bushes I already have. So I reckoned that I could pick some up at the bearing place (SKF) in town, since I had to go into town anyway.

They had no problem cross referencing from the Landrover part number or the description. But even they were apologetic about the price - by giving me trade discount they could go as low as $60 each. I said I would see what else I could do.

Four Wheel Drives in Melbourne $22, All Four x 4 Spares in Newcastle, $25. I ordered from the second one as they are closer.

It just shows that it is well worth shopping around. Now it is just possible that SKF's bearings are better - but it is not a very demanding application, and I have generally been very happy with the quality of stuff from All Four x 4s.

or $8.00 from the uk plus postage. I have found that if you order a reasonable amount of bits postage comes to about $80.00. But because the parts are a third of the price the postage doesn't matter too much. also I have to pay about $30.00 to get stuff up here from Vic any way and the stuff from the UK gets here in about 5 days which beats the stuff from vic aswell.

The bit that really tops it for me though is that none of the Aussie parts dealers have websites that you can search and order online though either.

sorry but, I'd pay more for the quality ones. My experience is that the cheap Chinese or Korean ones just don't last...but then again, China has made us all into a throw-away society:(

Probably because none of the Australian suppliers are in business in a big enough way. Reflects the fact that in the UK Landrovers are a mainstream brand. In Australia it is a niche brand with a very small following.

Maybe they would get a bigger customer base if they made it easier for potential customers to buy online.

Also even the other makes that have the following don't even do it. This country is years behind the rest of the world when it comes to retail.
