View Full Version : Oil in Harness cleanup?

Hi there,

I've just checked my ECU end of the engine harness.. and drained a HEAP of oil from the plug.
I checked random multiplugs throughout the harness to find yet more oil.

I've setup a cup at the injector end of the harness and tried cleaning with metho but found the metho not to be penetrating the mass amount of oil in the loom and connectors.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of a plastic friendly degreaser / cleaner to put through the harness?

Cheers,..

I don't know of any "plastic friendly degreaser" but I do have a brand new unused one you can purchase if you like

I bought it to replace the one on my bus, but then I ended up selling the bus before it was fitted.

It will take overnight at last for the metho to push through. The other item you can use is non plastic destructive contact cleaner, CRC I think have one(some contact cleaner will melt plastic fittings). If the cup idea is not working with atmospheric pressue, you can rig up something like a coke bottle and screw or melt in a car valve and apply low pressure witha compressor or even a bike pump to assist pushing it through. Not too much or you may create a missile.

HI Mate
The other trick is to remove the sealing gasket at the ECU whilst you are removing the oil thats traped in the system.MAKE SURE ITS REPLACED BEFORE PLAYING IN WATER!!!!!
