Can anyone tell me what dipswitch settings to use for a 4000rpm tacho on a 300TDi? My mate has the calibration tool for us to try tomorrow arvo, but would rather not have the experiment with the dipswitches before we start on the potentiometer.

Hi Ranga
I see you got a big reply on this one, what were the settings on the dipswitch in the end?

Did you Google it, e.g., http://www.egauges.com/pdf/vdo/0-515-012-044.pdf ?

all three in the off position, depending on the tacho, if this doesnt work let me know as there are two other options to try, I just fitted mine yesterday.
I have posted a question about what revs at what speed in my 300tdi 1994 130, I want to use this info to fine tune the potentiometer.

Have been putting mine in today, tried all three in the off position first and found i had 1200rpm at idle, adjusting the potentiometer couldnt get it down to where i believe is idle speed @ 720-750rpm so ended up at Off, On, Off. Will borrow a tachometer later this week and fine tune accordingly and let you know. FYI 300Tdi Defender, VDO tacho 4000rpm.

Try off off on, this is the only other VDO recommended setting.

Thanks all. My friend has the tool to correctly calibrate and fine-tune the tacho using the potentiometer, we just wanted to cut to the chase
