As far as I can tell, the back seats in the Puma 130 are the same as the ones in the 110, they even have the release knobs to fold them. BUT, they're actually bolted to the rear bulkhead, so CAN'T be folded.

Question. Is it just a matter of undoing the bolts and then they would fold like the 110?

I haven't got much use for the rear seats, but I read somewhere that it's actually illegal to remove them, since the car is licensed to carry so many passengers. At least by folding them I'd get to use a little more of all that wasted space.

if you dont need them, you can get them removed and get a mod plate to reduce the seating capacity

I removed the rear seats because I converting it to a camper for touring but I would like to be able to fit them when not use the Dfe as a camper :(

I have to ring Qld Transport on this :(

chucaro, refer to my first reply, in qld you need to remove the seats and seatbelts then get a modification plate fitted by an engineer

Yes I read it, so my plan tpo have a camper to sleep in and fit the rear seats when needed is out of question.
Can not be both ways, or camper or a 5 seater :(

Oh well looks like that I have to start building a 12 footer compact off road caravan

if you're only going to be taking the 2nd row of seats out when you're on trips, i wouldnt bother with the mod plate, theres plenty of landcruisers, prado's, patrols, etc getting around with the 3rd row stripped out, cargo drawers and load guard fitted who dont get hassled by the cops

just depends on how legal you want to be, but unless you plan on removing the back seat permenantly, i woudlnt bother with the mod plate

Yes I know that many people are pushing their luck. I am not prepared to have my car illegal.
In case of an accident, the 3rd party insurance (on the rego) and the full comprehensive insurance do not pay!
I can not afford that, so back to standard

what a crock of legaleese non-sense!

Do you need an engineers cert to fold the damn things away?

I don't see how this is a safety issue, what is the point of legislation covering it?

Not an issue in Vic is it?

My understanding of the law in Queensland is that if the seat removal is temporary, such as during a touring holiday, then there is no problem i.e - no law is broken. ;)

As long as you are not dismantling the seat belt mountings you don't haven an issue with legislation.

Also to Chucaro: My 130" has an engineering certificate to carry up to 9 people (incl. driver). My seat belt mountings are fitted permanently.
Within 30 minutes I have my Camping set-up removed and the vehicle converted into a minibus.
All within regulations.

Cheers,
Daniel
