Took the loungeroom (Lexus LS400) for a much needed drive yesterday and today, clocked up 700km from Hobart, stayed in Lonny sat night, then took the long way home via Scottsdale and the east coast. Averaged 12l/100km, and loved driving it. Together with my RRC it gives me great pleasure almost no road noise, smooth as silk and great handling/ overtaking abilities with that Glorious little quad cam V8 and seemless autobox in sport mode:twisted:.
At 255K it still feels like when I bought it at 103K. It may be a Toyota but it is a well built and well designed one:)
Anyone else here enjoy their 'other' car as much?

Absolutely, and for the same reasons. Although it is admittedly not a Lexus V8, more like a Subaru Outback H6. Quite, smooth, handles like its on rails, ooodles of passing power, it rolls nicely, uses less fuel etc etc etc and all of the creature and car like features. Just sweet.

My Brother has one of these too, couldn't shut him up about it:D:D He loves it aswell! Very well made and a joy to drive, apparently. I haven't got to drive it yet:(
The bizarre bit is that this LS400 is now worth about $8500, a LOT of car for the money. You can see why I wouldn't part with it, what would I replace it with? We just finished paying for it (And yes, it was still cheap to buy 5 years ago. Much less $ than a 2 year old Fairlane or Statesman and 5 times the quality:cool:)and it still has years of life in it.:)

I have my "new" other car arriving very soon. I physically cannot put to words how much I enjoy driving this car:D:D.
Financially speaking I shouldn't be buying it, but the opportunity that came up is never going to come around again.

Haha, no nothing that nice:D. There will be sighs, but I got another 300D:no2:.
This time its a W124 300D six cylinder, just rolled over 200k, one elderly owner, bloody spotless and has just about every option offered (including a rear diff lock:eek:)

Oh yeeees, even if it is shy of a couple of wheels.;) I've heard that Subaru owners are the most likely drivers to replace their cars with the same brand.

Eunos 800. When it was released it was said to be the best quality car japan had ever made. I think its the least jap like car to drive I have been in and a few new japanese technologies were invented for it. But It does not drive like any of my bmw's of earlier yr and still feels tinny. It is bigger inside tho than the bmw's and also better laid out. Plus uses loads less fuel.

They are a cracking car! Hope you get a better run than the W123.
My other non-LR drive is an Alfa Romeo, which is sublime bit of kit to motor around in. I only drive it once a fortnight or so, but it makes me smile every time I do.

Funny you should mention that.
My mum bought one of the first H6's to land. She updated that with another H6 when it was time. Just today she told me that she wants to get another one! Funnily enough she was eyeballing the Imprezza though. The cool thing is that she doesnt want anything with less power than the H6 so I can only guess if she doesn't get another H6 (most likely) that she'll check the WRX.

Great choice, Love those late Diesel ones. Well done!
Whats the go with the rear locker, is it an electric actuated one? I seem to remember they were an electromagnetic type of clutch or something????

Thats a good point JC,everyone complains about LR's resale but Toyota's are just as bad.My old boss payed $110,000 for a Lexus 470 and didn't get a single phone call selling it for 45k four years later.Lexus are like RR's alot of vehicle for little money.Remember too that some of the parts are straight from camry's,corrolla's so don't pay for the lexus packaging. Not really, just a lot of sloowwwww drivers. It didn't help when listening to Thunderstruck on the radio...good driving music that:twisted: Easy to get into trouble with AC/DC and a quick car:eek: Good thing SWMBO was there to keep me from going too ballistic:D:D

Nice one JC!
My other car is a 94 Troopy 4.2, a bit basic but great torque. I love driving it, it feels like a truck, and the room in the back for camping is great.
We just covered about 2300km up to Perisher, country NSW and back to Tassy. The D1 300Tdi went great and used bugger all fuel on the long runs (I wasn't allowed to take the Troopy SWMBO wanted some comfort).
The only problem was the Tacho going stupid, up and down by about 1000 revs, must post a thread in the tech section to sort it out.
Cheers Andy
