I wasn't sure whether to larf or cry, but I chose the larf option. :D
I was working on Smally4.6 's D2a this evening, fitting a new ACE pump as the other one was howling and making some pretty uncool noises, infact it was the loudest one I've heard:o
I removed the air intake pipe and airflow meter etc etc to gain access to the pump and it's connections when I noticed something odd. The inlet pipe from the reservoir to the pump still had a clamp on it:eek: It was clamped, shut. now this pump was replaced under warranty about 60K ago, so must've been noisy for that long, and consequently the poor old pump has been starving for that length of time, and was basically now useless.
No wonder it was the worst one I've heard, I had the stethascope on it when I first looked at the vehicle and couldn't believe the metallic noise from it:eek:
Anyway, thought someone may get a larf out of this. Maybe the ACE will feel more responsive now, Brett??!:D

Probably was working at some level, but can't have been too efficient:o
Yes, I left covers etc off to do the throttle body bypass tomorrow when engine is cool. Just thought I'd get the ACE pump on and tested/ bled before I went home:)
Your right about the spring rates, it'd be fantastic loaded though:)

I would be sending the bill for the replacement pump to the last bozo that replaced it.

Yep.
Today I looked inside my wife's Forester. It had a service at Victor Harbor a few months back whilst we were on holiday.
It's missing some panels under the dash! How am I going to convince Subaru that they were not refitted by their dealer?
Why should I have have to pay for new ones?
I only saw it as I thought I'd give the car a clean. That's usually my wife's job.

Yet another reason i dont like mechanics, in 23 years i have never taken a car /bike to one and never will - unless i'm in Tassie and i need to drop in to JC's ;).

I only took it to the dealer as it was the 12,500km service - the car is only a year old.

Ron,
there should have been no reason to remove any interior trim panels while doing the 12 500km service.
It is just oil and filter and kick the tyres. From memory it only takes 30 minutes to an hour.

That's what I thought, Jon. I had a lok at the service sheet/receipt. The only other service it's had was the initial 5,000km service by Penrith Subaru (Inchscape). Maybe it went then? I can't see why.
I'll go to Penrith Subaru and ask.

The 5000km service is even smaller. That one is scheduled for 30 minutes but doesn't usually take that long.
