I originally got onto it via wiki!!, and promptly called the ABC to ensure it was actually going to go ahead!!! and now it is
I'm a *massive* Les fan, It was what inspired me to get out there, and explore this great country, especially, as a young kid.
I've been collecting all his book's for a while now, and i think i have to only get one or two more. I also collect all the other books and diary's of early exploration.
Another one of my hero's, is LEN...
ABC have released the second series for sale, which becomes available in October.
I have placed my order, so being the thought full young man I am, I decided to give other a head up

Wooohooo!! :D Thanks for the heads up mate! He was one of my heros from when I was a young boy - yeah I'm a child of the 80's...
Edit: and he's also one of the main reasons I'm a Defender owner and a Land Rover addict.

Can't wait to get it, I too remember watching every episode on TV as a kid :)
Perhaps watching the show so much is what caused the Land Rover Bug to manifest itself later on in life :p

If it wasn't for them filming near Aurukun on Cape York when I was there in 1988 I may never have fallen in love with Land Rovers :D
Nothing to do with les - got a ride in a support 110 wagon and the ride did it all!

I see the ABC has continued their policy of only selling regionally coded DVD's. This despite the Competition Commission saying there is no obligation to regionally code them.

He was my hero as I was growing up...I still watch my old videos from time to time. I meet him in Brisbane at a book launch many years ago.
Anyone know where he is now? Is he still persuing that block of land in the gulf for the Vietnam diggers?
and the big question....
Does he still drive a Landrover?
Cheers

I was only just watching this last night. My wife, who is not from Australia, thought I was mad for wanting to put it on. Half way through the first episode she was saying how interesting he is and how he makes you want to get in the car and just head out there.

ALways enjoyed watching Les' shows.
Just stumbled across an episode of "Ray Mears Goes Walkabout" where Ray meets up with Les Hiddins in the daintree. (On Foxtel Ch 619)
Two of my favourite TV presenters in one!
