Just got off the phone to Keith at RoverTracks, and have ordered front and rear TrueTracs for my 130.

Pricing was US$480 each + US$128 for shipping each, so with the Aust dollar at .85c that should work out to just over AUD$700.

The rear is a P38 style diff, so I have to get one of these spacer rings:

to make it fit.

is the $480 for both or is that each?

I would think that is per unit.

Good work Dave, are you going to fit them yourself or get someone else to do it?

I wish! No - it was $480 each. Still better than buying locally by quite a bit though.

I am going to have a go at fitting them myself (hope that is not delusional).

If it looks too hard when I get the diff out, I might take it to PCB Land Rovers and ask Pete to check things out for me.

Because I won't be altering the pinion etc I am hoping I can just swap out/swap in. Would you recommend I get it done professionally?

I did mine myself, but considering I am a mechanic I guess you could call that being done professionally .

It isn't technically difficult, but you will need diff specs and a magnetic base dial indicator to set the carrier bearing preload and backlash correctly.

From memory it took me about two hours to do the rear diff on my Rangie. Axles out, diff centre out of housing, dismantle diff and fit new centre, refit and setup backlash / preload, refit to housing, refit axles.

To do the rear on the 130 should be a similar job.
To do the front you will have to pull the swivels, which makes it a bit harder but not impossible.

I've got a mag base dial gauge, so that's good.

Might have to co-opt you into an afternoons work when you are down in Adelaide some time. Cash payment!!

I am sure it could be done at some stage.

Don't try to plan anything too far ahead though, I rarely know where and when I will be places!

I have been watching the market too...for sometime as when I started watching to buy from the states the dollar was at 82c I would really like to buy cloer to 90c but I think I 'm going to be waiting a very long time...I was hoping there economic struggles there of late migh of weakened the us dollar to the ozzy dollar but no such luck
