Hi Guys

TD5 MY 2001 Defender 130
Safari Snorkel

I have noticed that my air intake hose has broken where it passes the engine block.
Any suggestions for a replacement?? Are there better quality alternatives to original Land Rover parts?

Also there is this water separating valve at the lowest point of the air intake hose. Is this necessary when using a snorkel? Shouldn't it be blocked to prevent accidental water ingress? The valve assembly also has a far smaller diameter then the intake to the airfilter housing. Would be nice to keep the larger diameter from the snorkel and get rid of the valve altogether, wouldn't it??

What do you suggest?
Thanks for your opinions.

the water drain one way "valve" in what looks like the Y joiner piece - umm you are talking about the pipe that comes from the snorkel to the air cleaner arent you?

Yes, that the one.
To my that Y piece can go if the snorkel does its water separating job properly.
Has anybody removed it?
As my air intake hose is damaged I want to use the same large diameter tube from the snorkel outlet to the air filter intake.
Has anybody done that yet. What hose should I use?

Thanks for suggestions
