Mine is October 1998.

I had thought it would be fairly close to the last. Apparently not.

At least I have the satisfaction of knowing it was built in the 50th Anniversary year. It even has a sticker on the rear window saying so.

Maybe not the last built, but I think I got the last on sold in the country in April 99. Blue Ribbon Motors shipped it up from somewhere down South for me after searching high and low for one.
Still got it, coming up to 200k on the clock - mostly retired and just doing weekend work these days.

Scott

My VIN is Nov '98, first registered Jan '99.

Had MTF98 in the 'box, OAT in the cooling system and PAS 14315 in the PAS which are all supposedly TD5 fluids.

There were some brand new "NATO Surplus stock" 300 Tdi Defenders for sale a few months ago (in Europe, and LHD). They were 2005 build vehicles from memory.

And they make 300 Tdi Defenders in Turkey under license. But I suppose you're talking about Australian cars only.

I'm guessing 300Tdi parts will still be available when TD5 parts are no longer made

The 300Tdi engine was still in production by MWM in Brazil until last year and fitted to vehicles destined for markets outside Europe/Australia. ie Sth America, Africa, Eastern Europe, etc. and the UK military.
One of the boys on LR4x4 bought a new Defender with a 300Tdi either last year or the year before (Brazilian built)
