I just got back from a trip across the Simpson and after driving in 3 states i am now convinced that, S.A has the worst roads in Australia, they don't know what graders or rollers are - The reason i say this is i managed to flog out ALL of my shockie rubbers on a 5 km stretch of the worst corrugated, rutted, shot gibber piece of road i have ever seen.:mad: and they were new 3 weeks before my trip

A desert parks pass is $107 per vehicle and the ranger at Dalhousie springs said that last year 6000 vehicles visted Witjira N.P and they still can't get a grader.

Having new rubbers fitted, i didn't take a set of spare ones.
Below is the result ....

Dont know what caused your problem but I have recently travelled that road, it is a super highway compared to the gunbarrel highway at about 500km of the roughest I have seen to date. I fitted new iron man shocks before I left and they are all still good, including rubbers. I am also convinced they are not the best shockie for corigations
cheers

ps my trip was very close to 10000km

I'm pretty sure that tyre will no longer hold air or can be repaired. :p

I think the hole looked worse when it had a mulga stake through it :D

It's off my mates LC, he had issues getting up a couple of dunes and decided to go around them, he sooon learnt after staking 2 tyres to lower his pressure and have a 2nd or 3rd try:D:D

Just done the same trip myself and have to agree with bblaze here.

If you've managed to chew out ALL your shockie rubbers on a 5Km stretch of road then the road isn't the problem. You're either going too fast or your suspension set up or components are all wrong. What speed were you doing and what sort of load were you carrying ?

As for the worst roads in the country, well I've got to admit SA has got the best gibbers. But for genuine all round p..s poor roads Qld is head and shoulders above the rest. Is there one piece of dual lane highway in all of Qld outside a 200 Km radius of Brisbane ? And as for Qld's 'developmental' roads. Just an excuse not to have a decent road.

Qld is a beautiful state but it also has the worst roads in the country.

Geez, come to WA if you reckon SA has some bad roads. Some of our sealed roads are worse than that, just drive the Great Eastern Hwy from Coolgardie to Perth.:o:wasntme:

In the height of summer we probably all have some bad roads in our beloved country.
