How to stuff up a Panorama

Here's a 7 shot picture of Honeymoon Cove at Point Sampson, WA.

Note the darkened area towards the right of centre:mad:

Any idea what caused this?

This is a prime example of what happens when you don't keep the settings the same on all shots. In particular in this case I left my C-POL filter on without thinking. That's about the worst thing to do as the polarizing effect changes across the panorama shots as the angle of light changes.

tell you the truth I like it.

it reminds me of the best panorama I've ever seen that was taken over about 12 hours.

working his way in from the edges the photographer took the outside most photos then waited an hour and took the next ones in.

end result was a pic not unlike that one with blue sky on the edges fading to sunset to the stars with the moon rising out of the ocean just off center.

I only shoot RAW and always archive the originals so yes it can be fixed up but it is unnecessary PP

You didn't accidentally spot meter on that cloud, did you? Making a white cloud 18% grey would darken the rest of the frame.

Like blknight I like it, I think it draws the eye to those little white clouds and looks like all hell is about to break with the weather. Cheers

That was because I wasn't using the tripod. I didn't bother straightening it as I was annoyed by keeping the C-POL on. Like I said all unnecessary PP'ing. I much rather a pano that just stitches seamlessly.

Easy fix. Just spend ~$7k on a full-framed 24mp Sony A900 with a CZ16-35mm lens and then just crop the top and bottom. :)

That would be the secon camera when the Hasselblad H3DII-39 is not handy :D
Then again......she will cost more that the Puma :D

Pity about the dark strip, but you had a good choice of subject matter......Honeymoon Cove is literally around the corner from my house, lovely place to spend time.
