Ive just been told that there is a recall out for the brake vacuum hose but there are no parts in Aust, the catch me is that if I take the car in for the service that is now due after a Kimberly trip the yard keeps the car until the part arrives from UK. NOT HAPPY:angrylock:

I was in the same boat, had to wait over a month to get my vehicle serviced after we returned form holidays with the result it was 8000K overdue for a service. What can you do but keep an eye on the fluids etc........
Would put a service manager in an interesting position if he told you of a recall and advised you not to bring your car in though.

I do not know what it is the policy of LR regarding these cases but with my experience as an ex John Deere service manager I would suggest to you the following:
Send you LR dealer a letter or email (with acknowledge of receipt by them) stating your concern about the recall and asking them for instructions to follow.
Let them know that you cannot do without an off-road vehicle and you have to do a trip which cannot be postpone
That will cover you and force them to reply in writing.
Depending on their reply and if driving the vehicle in the actual condition it is not dangerous try to get one hose made to have with you in case that the original and defective part fails.

All the service dept can do is to inform you of what will happen if you bring the vehicle in.
Dealers have some very unhappy customers.
This gives some hope for Euro IV customers but not for EURO III.
SUBJECT: Update on Recalls P008 and P017 #2
Dear Colleagues
P017 – Brake Vacuum Assistance System
The Vacuum Pipes LR018673 are still in short supply and there have been no receipts since our last email to you. We are awaiting another small partial shipment early next week. These will be distributed to dealers in accordance with the results from the weekly Summary reports. These parts will remain
restricted.
However, there is a large shipment of Vacuum Pipes, etc due in the week commencing 21 September 2009. Once these parts arrive into stock, we will un-restricted the Vacuum Pipes, advise our dealer network and you may order as required.
The Master Cylinder LR014527 and Brake Boosters (SJJ500090, SJJ500080 and SJJ500070 will continue to be on restriction owing to the need for Generated Authority Codes to appear in the text on every Campaign Claim containing those additional parts. However, to simplify the order process, you
may submit orders on the AS/400 for Master Cylinders and Brake Boosters. A member of the Land Rover Australia parts team will review and approve such orders or contact you for more information.
Should you require any further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact the warranty department.
