View Full Version : fuel flap

seems my fuel flap won't close. no amount of jiggling of the closeure parts will have it close. I feel a bit may have fallen off the last time i filled up (but i'm not sure, rave doesn't seem to have a diagram of the workings).

if someone has the time and inclination to post a photo of the flap internals then that would be greatly appreciated.

Is that what you are seeing?

sometimes the little pin lets the plastic bit fall down to far...try a gentle movement of the dinky tin bit that faces the car when the lid is closed, one way a few mm and if that does not work back to centre and then the other way a few mm's.

Cheers

Is the catch on the inside of the flap aligned properly with the pin as it closes? Mine wouldn't close and all I had to do was bend the catch a fraction.

Stephen.

It is not mine in the pic but I have tried both and it will still not stay closed. Shut the driver's door and it pops open!

thanks stuuu

it seems the top part of the catch(the reversed comma part) has broken off.

next challenge will be to find a replacement.

I didn't want to bother Bundalene and so I paid $7.28 for a new one - and it still won't stay shut :confused::confused:

I have the same problem as well.

Can you fit a D1 flap with lock onto the D2? That crappy bit of plastic isnt the best security for $100+ of fuel...

Wes

95l @ $1.62 (yesterday's price) is definitely $100+ :o

you could just fit a locking cap instead of "messing" with the door.

God, you guys have cheap fuel to.............

Currently UK price is equivalent to 2.03 AUD per Litre.

Mine's done it several times ... so I bought a new plastic fuel latch doo-hicky ... haven't fitted it, and has never happened since I purchased ?? ... scared the old one into submission :D

... I filled up last night ... fuel guage showing just under a 1/4 tank left, and I put in $111.75 ... 93.19 litres @ $1.199/L ... for 788km. 11.8L/100km for suburban driving. Pretty happy with that.

I still don't trust the fuel guage ... the fuel light still hasn't come on. I keep running it down a bit further each time to try and judge how accurate the fuel guage is ... but 93L into a 95L tank with the guage at about 1/4 ??

My next check is to get someone to operate the push button to see what happens when the solenoid is activated.

Soleniod opens it when it is shut and so I need to check.

Had this prob on my D2 ages ago. The plastic bit that guides the pin through the hole disappeared!!!! This meant that the pin stayed in behind the panel and obviously wouldn't engage the catch.
Now...the Hi Tech Fix......
I used the pointy bit of a pen...the bit that screws in at the pointy end locating the nib. A bit of shaping and shortening to make it the right length and hey presto..... that bit has been there now for over 2 years and never missed a beat lol
