There is not a huge amount in the immediate area. The young bucks like playing along the railway line between Myamin and Portland but it gets pretty chopped up.
The Otways are not too far away and if you like playing on the beach, Carpenters Rocks or Beachport/Robe are just over the fence to the west.
The Grampians are nice place to visit but not too much I have found there or you can head up to the Pyrenees/Mt Cole area beyond Ararat.
Hope this helps

I live in Horsham, I guess you would call that west rather than southwest.
Not much proper 4wdriving to be had around there, even the Grampians are pretty tame.

Your only a days drive from the red centre, what more could you want. Flinders Ranges, oondatata (sp), Simpson, or up the other side to birdsville and back east and down.

G'day,
I holiday near Portland every christmas. As 'buddha D2' said, there's not a lot of 4WDing to be done in the immediate area. There are a few areas of forest, such as Narrawong State Forest with plenty of bush tracks, but it's all pretty tame. It's really worth the trip across the border for the beach and dune driving though.

Don't know why you want to know about real 4WDriving in the Portland. It is rumoured that you are getting a Wrangler with highway tyres and an Engel Picnic Set (incl: Check Tea Towels) for your trips in Portland.
Lucky Amy and the lads (Angus and Archie) are remaining true to the Faith and keeping the Disco - and it is my duty to inform you that Amy, Angus and Archie are life members of the NEVLRC.:D
You're an ex-Member.:(
