Check out this link, has anyone heard of one of these before and do they work?

But that one is BlueTooth and "talks" to my on board laptop, so no wires trailing around, and also cheaper! ;)

I bought this BlueTooth one, as you'll see from that thread, and I'm pretty pleased with it.
Has picked up a few issues with my Disco since, so I reckon its worth it for me.
Only downside, is it can't clear the dreaded "3 amigos" on the V8.
One thing I have come to realise is though, a lot (most?) OBD-II readers won't work the TD5's, but then they have the excellent Nanacom device instead....:(

Also from what I researched before my purchase, the ELM327 processor is the way to go with these things, which both these scanners have.
