Do not waste your money on metal spray `repair`, it will delaminate and you will end up having to pay for a second proper repair.

When working for a certain well known mining company years ago i took over the maintenance of their LV Fleet, they used to bin the front axles on the landcruisers and hiluxes due to the seal wearing the axle causing oil to leak from the front swivel hub. With over 100 vehicles the cost was massive, all axles were metal sprayed and there were no failures and a massive reduction in maintenance costs.
IMO if the damage is not too bad and not in the area of the key way it should not be a problem, but if the key way area is also damaged the shaft would have to be machined to a size under that of the depth of the key way before the shaft could then be built up to the correct size then a new key way would then have to be cut.
Maby cheaper to look for a second hand crank.
