Re-painted SVX's?
I would like to repaint the front of mine to get rid of the silver front.
They look good, I won't say better because I have gotten used to my black Defender and now really like it.

Did anyone read the comments on the linked article ?
One pelican reckons a Patrol rides better and is better off road out of the box than a Defender
Drive both on a daily basis and that isn't even remotely true, although the Patrol is excellent with a few suspension mods.

BUT I have noticed that they are pretty much throwing on most of the features that were supposed to be unique to the SVX thats enough to **** off an SVX owner.

I would love to have the Fire.......its amazing how the front doesn't look so bad when colour coded.
I have to say though if I was an SVX owner I would be mad as the features on those are supposed to be unique, however it looks like the features of those are being thrown on these.:(
for example the headlight grills the wheels the recaro seats

The best of a bad bunch I agree, but not exactly practical outside northern europe, siberia, or tassie ;)
Is it just me who thinks that the grille on the SVXs (and these) is a hideous abomination, and the sidesteps are the most impractical, useless pieces of crud ever invented.

It's pretty common for manufacturers to say that X is exclusive to this limited/special edition model, and to then do another special, or worse still make it standard across the range.
Ultimately - they just want to push steel...or aluminium in our case :)

even in below zero temp, you get wonderfule clear sunny days, the roof heats up, untill you park up. then a bit of snow ( evenings and morings) it melts the freezes to the roof. so you end up with a sheet of ice on top.
ten minits down the road you stop at the lights, the ice slides off, bent wipers or dented bonnet. worce fly around a cnr ice comes off kills some poor person. not an uncomon problem. a bit like icecules falling from the roof and killing some one. it happens more often than one would think.

svx style front grill treatment is now available as a genuine accessory. LR would not invest in developing this significant advance in resin injected engineering knowhow if they wasnt going to paint it a different color every year and flog it off as part of a special edition. same for the recaro seats.
Personally I am waiting for the 2011 special edition Defender Aqua, same **** as the ice, svx, and fire, but in blue. But then there is always the Defender Earth due for limited release next year, which will be significantly different, but brown, and the same.
60th anniversary, probably the last significant birthday for this original chassis, was a missed opportunity for this company to capitalize on its heritage. as we can see by this latest series of hairdresser wagons, LR is still run by the sycophantic PAG yank running dogs that wanna gentrify everything English.
Tata now makes mostly utilitarian type vehicles for a developing world market which kinda reminds you of what LR did originally before the poofters sired by the range rover took over the firm.

I'm sorry, but that has to be one of the most ridiculous colour schemes I have seen! At least it looks like they have the common sense not selling them here. Black roofs??? GT stripe looking paint??? Unless it has a supercharged V8 under the bonnet, they shouldn't try making it look like it does. I think the Land Rover marketing guys just don't care anymore, or else this global financial crisis has got them taking harder drugs than usual.

While old blighty may be cold and miserable for 364 days a year, lots of bits of western europe get quite hot in summer. :p

Ok true but then England is not that cold nor will it get the same weather that northern and north western Europe gets with a annual temperature variation of 60 deg, England at best is pushing only 30-35 deg. Nor would England experience a ground temperature of - 30 and an air temperature (taken at 800mm) of + 20 at the same time.
In England it would be a bit of heat from inside the cab that may melt a bit of snow and I doubt that England could produce a winter sun that could give you a sun tan ( if ever)

Sorry I dont get your point....weather its warmth from the sun heating the roof and melting the snow/ice or heat from your cab..
why would that mean that they should not come with a black roof?
IMHO having a black roof means NOTHING yes you get in your car and your aircon takes 30 seconds longer to cool the car on a hot day and perhaps you dont need to put your heater on in the cab to kill someone with Ice because the dreaded black roof will warm up and do that for you :lol2:
aircons are good these days...I think that is eveidant from the many dark coloured cars on our roads today...I think we need to move on from the 70's;)
But like I said that is just my opinion:p

In England it would only be the heat from the cab, and this would cool down leaving only a thin layer of ice and a dusting of snow on top. As well as in England the snow is wet ( relative term) add to that England doesn’t get the heavy nightly dumps of snow after very bright hot sunny days where the air temp can drop 40 deg in 40 mints.
why would that mean that they should not come with a black roof?
well in England it wouldn’t matter much, as I have already posted. England is hardly indicative of European weather patterns

Having spent 24 years in England in my opinion the weather sucks.:mad:Having to go out in the morning and use a cigarette lighter on the door lock so that you can get your key in it is not my idea of paradise.:oI figure that if i come from England and die from skin cancer,I WIN.;)
LOL Vaseline, fill you locks with that. but that will not help much when the door rubbers are frozen to the car and you cant open the door anyway. worse at about -25 the door handle will just come off in your handr. OH and doint forget to run the aircon to dry out the inside before parking up. any moisture in the seat foam will freeze, next morning you jump in and CRACK one busted seat.
all fun, enjoyed it so much we moved to aussie LOL

Having spent 47 years in the uk I have to agree that the weather isn't always pleasant :D
I used to slate roofs, and sweeping snow off a roof before you could start work is no fun believe me. It's no fun either being so cold that you don't know you've cut the end of your thumb off, but that's another story.........;)
Back to the Landrovers, I think the white and black model looks pretty good. I'm not so keen on the 90 though.
I was filling the County the other day and another County pulled up behind me, it was in mint condition too. The owner got chatting as you do :D, turned out to be an Isuzu model which he'd purchased new, "327,000 kilometres, never broke down, been here, there, everywhere etc,"
Then he said he'd been to test the SVX,decided it wasn't a patch on his County and decided he'd keep his beloved pride and joy.
I did ask for first refusal ...................

even in below zero temp, you get wonderfule clear sunny days, the roof heats up, untill you park up. then a bit of snow ( evenings and morings) it melts the freezes to the roof. so you end up with a sheet of ice on top.
ten minits down the road you stop at the lights, the ice slides off, bent wipers or dented bonnet. worce fly around a cnr ice comes off kills some poor person. not an uncomon problem. a bit like icecules falling from the roof and killing some one. it happens more often than one would think.
WOW thanks for the warning. We were thinking about going to the snow this year and I hadn't thought about that. :o :o :D :D

Since 1948, Land Rover’s signature Defender has been providing much needed support and utility for adventurous souls. While many off-roading vehicles such as Mercedes’ G-Wagon and Hummer H2 had upgraded with luxury materials and accessories, Land Rover remained loyal to its simplicity until now.
The new “Fire and Ice” edition of Land Rover Defenders cater to Defender fans who have grown up and are looking for something finer and upscale. These new Land Rovers are packed with Recaro buckets, Alcantara Trim, diamond turned alloys, color-coded head and tail lights, glass sunroof panels and more. Like its name, the Fire Edition comes in a special Vesuvius Orange while the Ice Edition comes in Alaskan White. Sadly for Land Rover Defender fanatics, the “Fire and Ice” Defender” only come in a limited quantity of 850 and will only be available in Europe, China and South Africa.

Just been mucking around with photoshop.........would this colour be over the top for a 130, maybe the same colour, but not metallic ? I'm taking delivery of the white 130 in the pic soon, but I've never been a 'white car person'. I'm considering colour options and I just thought I'd see how this would look.
Also, as in the top pic, I've always thought 130's needed a flare on the tub just to finish it off a bit.

It's a great idea of Landrover to keep coming up with variants of the 'fender, the more varieties you have out their the bigger your possible market will be. Surely we want as many sold as possible - even if just to help the 2nd hand and spares market in 20 years!

I've never been keen on black wheels as they tend to blend in with the tyres, although they can look good on some cars, like the silver Defender below.
At least the silver rim on these separates the wheel and tyre. I've added a black rock slider on the sill too. ;)
